 I gave up about 20 yrs ago, I had at times been a very heavy smoker as a money broker in the seventies I was getting through eighty a day, I obviously did a lot of damage to my lungs and they will never heal properly, but unlike most ex-smokers I don't blame anyone but myself, the dangers were well known even since the 40s and the late King died of lung Cancer which was blamed partly on his smoking habit, so anyone that wants to sue a tobacco company for their stupidity should be sent packing. IF the lung stem cells are intact or not damaged then lungs will autorepair but if the stem cells are damaged it wont repair.

  Lungs may heal a lot, but you could have residual health issues because you smoked in the first place. It's better you do not smoke and to quit, but also never to have started in the first place. I have not delved into the reliability/validity aspects of this study, but this seems highly improbable to me for the majority - or more specifically, I think there is a crucial point (unclear if amount and /or duration) where one's smoking becomes irreversible around problematic outcomes and I am not sure this study took this into account.

All due to unbridled stress which I used to manage easily with a cigarette. Earlier News about Drinking and Smoking when pregnant .. in the 60’s we did all those things that are being discussed now .. I had two normal babies in my opinion they are clever , good looking and normal (if there is such a thing as normal).

 Tried every herbal supplement to help our terrified rescue dog. All to no avail. The vet has prescribed medication but it only helps a little and only if we can give it to her before they go off, which is tricky as they happen on so many random nights. I’ve never had a dog so badly affected before and know local people with family members with PTSD who suffer terribly too. I understand why people enjoy fireworks but having seen how so many people and pets are affected by them, am now of the firm opinion they should only be allowed at organised events and only on set dates so at least those badly affected know when they will be set off and can prepare.

 My father grew up in a time when WWI survivors would throw themselves flat on the floor if a car backfired. It’s not snowflakes who need to deal with it.  It was called Shell Shock. A great many were affected by it. It isn't just soldiers with PTSD. Many, many people have issues with noise. People with all manner of mental health issues. Autism, myself included in that. Sensory processing disorder. People with learning difficulties and of course the many people with disabilities that are affected by a great many symptoms that are exacerbated by noise, light, smell and pain which adds to sensory overload.

   Mates who have dogs - their places smell of dog. They don't notice it as they are used to it. They hoover all the time and have the Dyson animal hoover, yet when I get back home I have dog hair all over me. God no, I hate dogs - I do have children as it happens, my actual human family. Not questioning officials why the force was necessary etc I could go on. They could have brought on organisations such as Netpol, who would have happily commented on the violence at the demonstration yesterday. It really does put their impartiality into disrepute. If such scenes occurred in Russia, they would condemn it and have politicians come on their programs and condemn it.

I have the highest education qualifications and still dream of half your salary. You could have chosen to be a teacher, a doctor, a nurse, a scientist, with less money but more life. Going to light a candle and have thoughts and prayers for them and everyone who also died because they didn't recieve cancer treatment are you? Give me a break, I feel sick! I went into my own lockdown on 6 March. We could see it coming. We'd seen it in China, Italy and Spain. We had time to prepare.

  I always worried about how my ex husband could take our daughter to the toilet when out shopping. He said it was hard and he’d usually take her to the disabled loo. I don’t have a son but what do mums do with a 10 yr old son? He’s too old to go in the ladies but I’m sure as hell not letting him go to the gents on his own. Most toilets are dirty and yuck in this country. Going to the loo should not be something you put off or dread. There is no need for this and the UK are so behind in this. Nice clean family toilet rooms with proper baby changing tables (big enough for toddlers), and somewhere to put your baby when you need to go to the loo yourself. The amount of times I went home rather than go to a loo where I’d have to lie my baby on the floor so I could have a wee cos a pram wouldn’t fit in the room. I shop in taunton snd there is nowhere if you have a pram on your own.

 The American people already have enough problems with police officers being overly forceful and trigger happy, why should money be wasted on parking them like soldiers instead of spending that money on better training so that they can use the weapons they already have in a better way? On New Years Eve we were forced to sleep early, only to wake up at 12am just to pray for the new year and go back to sleep again. We had a 9pm curfew. No booze,the struggle was real. When the president announced this yesterday, you just couldn't avoid the noise on the streets as relief washed off boozers. It was New Years Eve they ddnt get to celebrate all over again. Although this has to be celebrated Kruger National Park has published the population numbers and it is worse than ever expected.

 Shut up about it, because it was worse in the war. No wonder there are so many people with mental health issues, when we are told we cannot express our anxiety and stress. Annika and Laura have both made very valid points. Children have been disproportionately affected by this pandemic, mental health problems that arise in the younger years can affect the person into adulthood. School is also about development, our children aren't able to socialise properly with other children too. The wars were different- children and young people may have missed out on going to school but they still had opportunities to socialise with other children and it was fairly obvious to see and understand why they were in that situation when they saw buildings which had been bombed etc.

  How good do your chances of survival seem then? What is the obsession with opening schools at the expense of everything else? Education of children is important, but at the expense of parents jobs and economy thus leaving them worse of? Is that really in the interests of everyone? Surely the answer is write off the school year and everyone is 'held back' a year and we concentrate on getting economy back to then provide long term support for those kids that truly need it. Kyle Michael Well with parents home schooling and seeing what their kids are being taught in zoom classes parents are getting red pilled on how toxic modern academia is. Parents homeschooling their kids and teaching them to think for themselves stops the children from becoming drones to the elitists. It's not just about academic education.

It also won't stop pupils picking it up in school and taking it home to their parents / carers. I've got 3 kids at home, one in year 11, believe me I want them back in school. But not until it's safe, and excuse me for being pedantic but I'd rather wait until it is actually safe, not when Boris decides to flip his coin and decide to send schools back without proper scientific data. Jabulela-Jax Roberts there is no data to show teachers are at a higher risk of severe illness (hospitalisation/death) than someone of the same age in any other profession. The data is clear that it is age that is the greatest risk factor not profession. They need to continue with the current plan to vaccinate all over 50s first, as these make up 99% of deaths. Ammarah Sadiq Vaccinations are for those people who are most at risk from the disease itself. Teachers who are vulnerable will already be on the vaccination list.

So many people have been vaccinated already and just like Nicola said that if for schools to open up adults will have to follow the lockdown rules for longer then so be it!  The clapping was an encouragement for all their work and a thank you from the population. Even a promise that we have understood and can start to make things better. Now we had time to react and little to nothing has been done to improve the working conditions for health care staff, to increase their meagre salaries or to make them feel appreciated through actions more meaningful and impactful than making noise slapping skin on skin from our windows with nothing much changing... Now the clapping is no longer a thank you, it's saying that we are not willing to do more than give them a socially distanced pat on the back though our applause. In two minds about this.  I am sure the same in Canada too since alcohol sales could not be disrupted but access to mental health services, family, friends has been tabled for seemingly forever. What about suicide deaths? amounts of spousal/child abuse? The toll for deaths in 2020 HAS to include far more causes than actual covid. Everyone is drinking because there's literally nothing else to do and most people are depressed because they've lost their jobs or family members and bunch of other factors. I was very depressed after I lost my job In 2019 and then 2020 made things worse and I'm still struggling now but im looking forward to the future but I know how hard things can get and alcohol, drugs, smoke can just make things easier to deal with. No one wakes up and says that they want to become an addict life isn't perfect and some things are easier said than done.
