To that end, the Center brings some of the world’s great thinkers to the Library to make use of the Library collections and engage in conversations addressing the challenges facing democracies in the 21st century. Five outstanding youth poets chosen from among thousands of award-winning student writers will be appointed National Student Poets in a ceremony Aug. 30 at the Library of Congress. The young poets, who represent five different regions of the country, will read original works as part of a ceremony that will be led by Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden and Institute of Museum and Library Services Director Kathryn K. Matthew.
